Too Much Ego Kill Your Talent

 

Perhaps we are witnessing Alicia's decline in her artistic career with CB and, well, considering her trajectory in the industry and the rumors surrounding it, she is kind a reap what she sowed.

When she started building her path with CB, she started at bike weeks thanks to her then fiancé Nigel Dupree, but soon she wanted to take it to the next level, performing at concert venues. And to do that, she started getting in touch with bands that were going to do tours and through that she managed to be part of the Buckcherry tour in 2016 and catching the attention of other bands like Stone Sour, because according to Corey he wanted a rock opening show that wasn't necessarily a band.

And in 2018, Alicia realized that she needed someone to take care of the business side of the group, since it took up a lot of her time and meant that she couldn't take care of the artistic side and rehearse. However, the person who was supposed to be the band's manager ended up canceling at the last minute because he had gotten sick, and it seems that the group went ahead even without a manager.

Another thing I noticed while watching the Girl Gang series is that because of the aerial and pyro performances, Alicia needs a series of documents approving this type of performance for safety reasons, and often the venues make it difficult for her to do so.

And considering that this industry is very small, her showing this in a YouTube series may have been a bad idea, because this comes across to people in the industry as a kind of 'problem' even though the one who has to solve it is Alicia.

In addition to the backstage part where sometimes things happen beyond her control, for example, in Bogota where part of the suitcases with the pyrotechnic instruments and costumes ended up getting lost.

It can be said that CB's peak was between 2022/2023 when it managed to be on the lineup of 6 festivals including Aftershock, Louder than Life and Download, and touring with In This Moment in 2022 and Motionless in White in 2023 in the USA.

And even with all this effort, CB never really became as big and relevant as many thought, or that several bands would want to have this group as an opening act or joint performance for the bands.

She probably thought that being with Corey would help her reach a wider audience and make her a relevant figure in the scene. But the truth is that what she does is not enough to get a large number of people interested. The Pussycat Dolls themselves only became a big name in the industry when they started doing something completely original, which also means, acting as group that can sing their own songs, and not just a dance show with burlesque elements, and in this aspect, Alicia's group as it is, does not have the capacity to do anything like The Pussycat Dolls. 

Not to mention the rumors about how Alicia really is away from the cameras, the way she allegedly dealt with technical staff, that some members of the group were also difficult to deal with.

So considering everything that has happened we can say that perhaps retirement from the stage at least for Alicia may be coming much sooner than she would like.
